Legos are a big toy brand that gained lots of popularity, including movies, books, and a handful of video games. In 1999, Lego Racers was released for PC, Nintendo 64, Playstation, and Game Boy. It has you build your own car and driver, then race against other cars. There are seven circuits, each with a different host and four other racers. The host is a good driver and will always come first or second depending on how you do. The first three circuits have good racetracks, each themed after different Lego sets. After the third circuit, you just race on tracks you’ve already raced on, but mirrored. There are power ups in the form of Lego bricks, colored bricks are power ups and white bricks increase what the power up does. Red bricks give you a cannonball, grappling hook, laser, and homing rockets. Blue bricks are shields, the more white bricks you have, the longer your shield will last. Yellow bricks give you an oil slick, exploding barrel, forcefeld, and mummy’s curse. Green bricks are turbos, and three white bricks allow you to fly, and four allow you to warp. The circuit hosts are Captain Redbeard, King Kahuka, Basil The Batlord, Johnny Thunder, Baron Von Baron, Gypsy Moth, and Rocket Racer. Each boss racer goes after a specific power up. This game is challenging, but fun, so I give it a 9/10 because after circuit three, you just race on mirrored tracks, which makes the game easy after circuit three.
