Ranking Taylor Swift songs by album

Photo of Taylor Swift in a red dress.

I’m going to be ranking Taylor Swift songs and writing about my favorite(s) from each album. I’ve been listening to Taylor Swift for a while now and I really like her music and would recommend it. I also try to listen to songs that she has released as Taylor’s Version so the profit goes to her.

Taylor Swift (debut):

My favorite song from Taylor’s first album is Our Song. This song is very popular among fans and is one of Taylor’s most streamed songs. It is also the most streamed song on this album. Our Song is very upbeat and has a great catchy tune. This song is number 11 on the track list. Aside from Our Song I also really like Tim McGraw. Tim McGraw is the first song on the track list.

Fearless:

My Favorite song on Fearless is either You Belong With Me or Love Story. Both of these songs are very popular. You Belong With Me tells the story of a boy, his girlfriend, and his neighbor/friend. The story is portrayed very well in the music video in which Lucas Till plays the love interest. Love Story has some lyrics relating to Romeo and Juliet to describe a relationship. I also love other songs from this album like Fifteen and That’s the Way I Loved You.

Speak Now:

Speak Now is going to be re-released soon and my favorite song from this album is Mine. I think that this songs tells a great story and also has a good music video. I really love the chorus and pre-chorus of this song. I think they go together very well and sound great.

Red:

My favorite song from Red is All Too Well (10 minute version). This song is really long but I really love the story that it tells and the way it shows so many different emotions. The chorus of this is really nice and I also love the bridge. Taylor also made a short film for this song starring Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien. I also like other songs on this album like Red, I Knew You Were Trouble, We Are Never Getting Back Together, and Message In A Bottle.

1989:

My favorite song from 1989 is Style. Style was the third single along with Shake it off, Blank Space, Bad Blood, Wildest dreams, Out of the Woods, and New Romantics. I don’t listen to this album too much because it hasn’t been released as Taylor’s version but it has some great songs. I really love Style because of the tune and the lyrics.

Reputation:

My favorite songs from Reputation are Don’t Blame Me and Delicate. I love that Don’t Blame Me is very loud, upbeat, and emotional. This album has 6 singles including Look What You Made Me Do, …Ready for it?, End Game, New Year’s Day, Delicate, and Getaway Car. My favorite singles are Delicate and Getaway Car. Reputation was Taylor Swift’s last album under Big Machine Records, and it still hasn’t been released as Taylor’s Version.

Lover:

Lover is definitely my favorite Taylor Swift album. It’s hard to just chose one song since all of them are really good. My top favorites are I Forgot That You Existed, I Think He Knows, Miss Americana And The Heartbreak Prince, Paper Rings, Cornelia Street, London Boy, Afterglow, and Lover. I also like the Lover remix with Shawn Mendes. Taylor and Shawn changed some of the lyric and made it more upbeat. I also think Lover also has the best album cover. I love the background colors and I like the cover for the Lover remix.

Evermore:

In my opinion the best Evermore song is No Body, No Crime. I haven’t really listened to many songs on Evermore, but I like No Body, No Crime because it is very upbeat and tells a good story. Taylor Swift also has a lyric video for this song ft. HAIM.

Folklore:

My favorite song on Folklore is august and after that is cardigan. I don’t listen to many songs on Folklore. Some of the songs in this album are connected and tell the story of a teenage love triangle like betty, august, and cardigan. These songs are written about characters made up by Taylor Swift. Cardigan also has a good music video. In the video Taylor is shown playing piano in a house, then shown playing another piano in the forest. At the end of the video Taylor is drowning then she ends up back at the house she was at in the beginning and wears a cardigan.

Midnights:

Midnights is Taylor Swift’s most recent album. My two favorites from this album are Lavender Haze and Maroon. I also really like Anti-Hero, Bejeweled, Midnight Rain, Snow on the Beach, Question..?, and Karma. Taylor also released Midnights 3 AM addition with more songs. There are also some music videos for this album. I kind of liked the music video for Bejeweled but I think the other videos could have been better. Taylor also remixed some songs like Snow on the Beach with Lana Del Ray and Karma with Ice Spice. People also noticed that this album had more of a personal message and was less focused on love. This lead people to believe rumors of Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn splitting up. The song Hits Different was featured on the Midnights Till Dawn Edition which also includes both remixes.

Game Review: Hole.io

Logo of the game "Hole.io" shows a stick figure falling into a black hole against a blue background.

Hole.io is a single player arcade/mobile game. Hole.io was created by Voodoo. In this game you can get different skins shaped like different animals and things. You can also play on different maps like city, farm, mall, office etc. You have to pay for things like skins and maps with coins and gems that you can get during rounds. You can also sometimes play different modes like solo, battle, and classic. In solo mode you are the only hole on the map, and the goal is to eat as much of the map as possible. In battle mode you play against other holes and try to eliminate them and be the last hole. And in classic mode you have two minutes to get in 1st place, you can also respawn if you lose. During rounds you can also add 30 extra seconds by watching an ad. Also, in classic and battle mode you play against bots which can make it a little boring. I’ve really liked this game ever since it came out in 2018. I would recommend playing in if you like other .io games.

Review: This is what ____ Feels Like

Album cover for "This is what ___ feels like" by JVKE depicts a painting of tree branches with white blossoms against a gray background.

This is what __ feels like is JVKE’s debut album. This album was released September 23, 2022. JVKE gained popularity on TikTok in 2020 during Covid-19 lockdowns. He also gained popularity from his song Golden Hour which was released on July 15th 2022 and reach the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. I really like this album because it describes different emotions in sections like falling in love, sadness, heartbreak, and falling out of love. My favorite songs from this album are golden hour, This is what falling in love feels like, this is what heartbreak feels like, moon and back, and I can’t help it. All in all I think this is a great album that capture emotions involved with love and relationships. And I would recommend listening to JVKE’s music.

Book Review: Friends Forever

The book Friends Forever was written by Shannon Hale and Leuyen Pham as the third book in the Real Friends series. This book is a graphic novel just like the two books before it and takes place when Shannon (the main character) and her friends are in 8th grade. This book explores the obstacles of growing up and being a teenager. There are 7 chapters that each have their own theme. The first chapter is about beauty standards, the second is about fame, the third is about boys and relationships, the fourth is about success, the fifth is about being perfect , the sixth is about mental health, and the last chapter is about realizing that your are good enough and accepting yourself. I think that this book is relatable to teenagers since it covers a lot of issues people struggle with as teenagers. This book talks about consent which shows the importance of having healthy relationships and having trusted adults to be able to talk to. It also shows instances of friend problems which is something teenagers commonly deal with. Overall I think this was a very intriguing book with good lessons. I would recommend it to people who enjoy graphic novels and to teens.

Game Review: Tomb of the Mask

Tomb of the Mask is a mobile game made by HappyMagenta. I’ve been playing this game for a while now and I’m on level 58. This game is very fun and addictive. You can play it in different modes, like you can play levels or you can play arcade mode which is an infinite round. Some rounds are easier than others, and playing arcade mode doesn’t require energy so you can play it when you run out. I really love the pixel look this game has to it. In this game you have to go through a maze to get to the end. There are dots on the map which are like coins that you can collect. There are also three stars you can collect per round, however you don’t have to collect them to go onto the next round. When playing this game there are also enemies which you have to avoid. The enemies are colored teal so you know to avoid them. Like in the picture below if the player hit the bats they would lose. But, if you lose once you can watch an ad to continue the round. You can also use a shield to protect yourself from enemies for a few seconds. One bad thing about this game is that there are a lot of ads, but you can get upgrades and things from them. Finally, I think this is a really fun game and definitely worth downloading.

Review: Stranger Things Season 1

About:

Stranger Things is a horror and mystery show. It was written by the Duffer brothers and takes place around the 1980s. The first season has 8 episodes.

Story:

The first season of Stranger Things was mainly about the disappearance of Will Byers. Will has a group of three friends Dustin, Mike, and Lucas. Him and his friends like to hang out and do things like play Dungeons and Dragons. Will lives with his older brother Jonathan and his mother Joyce, his dad left when he was young. One morning his brother and mom don’t know where he is, but a scene is shown before that shows Will being taken by a monster while he is outside at night with his bike. After word gets out that Will is missing, things don’t go well. His mother and brother are working hard to find him, the police aren’t doing anything to help them. And another thing goes wrong, a high school girl named Barbra goes missing after a party. Most people believed there was a bear in the backyard, but Will’s brother and one of his classmates named Nancy don’t think this is true. Jonathan and Nancy discover that there is a monster in Hawkins, this monster is called a Demogorgon and is the same monster that took Will. Also, in the second episode, Will’s friend find a girl in the woods. She doesn’t talk much but they call her Eleven (and El for short) since she has the number Eleven tattooed on her forearm. Eleven also doesn’t have anywhere to go since she ran away from Hawkin’s lab where she was kept and experimented on, so Mike takes Eleven to his house. There is much more that happens in the season after this, but I don’t want to spoil it so I’ll just leave it at this. All in all I think this is a really good show and I would recommend watching it. 10/10

Four by: One Direction- Review

Cover of the album "Four: The Ultimate Edition" by One Direction. Cover includes two black and white images (one on the top and one on the bottom) of Harry Style, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Louis Tomilinson, and Niall Horan, with the title "One Direction: Four" in the middle and the words "The Ultimate Edition" at the bottom.

The studio album Four was released November 17 2014. The album got it’s title because it was One Direction’s fourth album and their fourth year as a band. This album consists of 12 songs. Some of the songs in this album are more relaxed than others, and some song are more upbeat. For example, “Clouds”, “Steal My Girl”, “Girl Almighty”, “No Control”, and “Ready to Run” could be seen as more upbeat and loud, as opposed to “Fool’s Gold”, “18”, “Fireproof”, and “Night Changes” which could be seen as more relaxed and calm. For me personally, I like listening to both the louder and upbeat songs but also more relaxed calm ones.

This album also has singles, like “Night Changes” and “Steal my Girl,” which were released on the 14th. There were also five promotional singles which were, “Ready to Run,” “Where do Broken Hearts Go,” “18,” “Girl Almighty,” and “Fool’s Gold.”

One of my favorite songs in this album is “Fireproof”. This song was written by Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson along with some other singers. I also like the song “Girl Almighty.” It has a very uplifting mood and a good beat. All in all, I think this an amazing album worth listening to. I would recommend it if you like listening to pop music and positive upbeat songs.

Book Review: The Namesake

The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri

Background:

The book The Namesake by: Jhumpa Lahiri was published in September 2003. This is a domestic and realistic fiction novel. It tells the story of the Ganguli family, their arrival to America, and their life in America. This novel focuses on their firstborn Gogol who eventually changes his name to Nikhil.

Story:

The main character is Gogol Ganguli, named after Nikolai Gogol. This book starts out explaining Gogol’s parents and their marriage. His parents did not know each other before they were married. They decided to wed after one day and didn’t know each other’s names until after. Ashima (Gogol’s mother) left Calcutta with Ashoke(her husband and Gogol’s father) to start a new life in America. Both Gogol and his younger sister Sonia are born in America. When Gogol is born his parents have trouble naming him because they aren’t used to people naming their children just as they are born. In Calcutta people saw no rush in naming children and would call them by pet names until they needed a good name for something like going to school. Pet names were names only used by family and close friends. Also, Gogol’s parents wanted to wait for a letter from his grandmother with a name for their son. His parents decide to name him Gogol, after the Russian author Nikolai Gogol. He was named this because Ahsoke was in a terrible train accident once. In the middle of the night he was reading a book by Nikolai Gogol and when the train crashed most people died in their sleep. However, Ashoke was awake and when he heard people searching he stuck his hand up with the book in his hand. This made them realize there was someone there and they helped him get to a hospital. Ashoke was paralyzed for some time but once he was better he decided to continue college, get married and move to America. This was a very big event for Gogol’s father which Gogol was not told about until he was an adult. This book is the story of Gogol’s life and his family. There are some other big events like Gogol moving to New York, getting married (but then divorced), and going to college/graduating. When Gogol first moves out he goes to college at Yale. But, before doing this he changes his name to Nikhil. After graduating he moves to New York, and gets an apartment. In New York and in college he dates people and goes through relationships but none of them last. He marries a girl named Moushumi who his parents know. But, after about a year they spilt up due to an affair. This mainly book tells the story of Gogol’s life and the different events he goes through. I think this was a good book, it was a little sad but I would recommend reading it.
